RAID & Specs

Fri Dec 23, 2011 4:02 pm

I'm in the process of specking up a Dell rackmount unit to run RouterOS on.

We need a very high spec machine as we're expecting to be moving up to 10Gbps of trafic.

Looking at 6 cores, 4GB Ram, RAID5.

Does routeros support RAID?

Can anyone suggest a spec?

Thanks

You will be using a hardware raid accelerator. See the HP Smart array e200i in the list? That driver probably works with a large assortment of HP gear assuming that it is the cciss driver.
Reference: http://cciss.sourceforge.net/

The current list of controllers that should be supported by cciss is as follows:

Smart Array 5300
Smart Array 5i
Smart Array 532
Smart Array 5312
Smart Array 641
Smart Array 642
Smart Array 6400
Smart Array 6400 EM
Smart Array 6i
Smart Array P600
Smart Array P800
Smart Array P400
Smart Array P400i
Smart Array E200i
Smart Array E200
Smart Array E500
Smart Array P700M

We need to use Dell kit but you've pointed me in the right direction.
