RouterBoard 44 Port Assignments

Mon Dec 19, 2005 7:20 pm

Greetings. I have a PC in which I'm going to install 2 4-port RouterBoard 44's. My problem is that I can't figure out which physical port is assigned to which interface.

Here is the setup:

interface ethernet print:
0 R ether0 1500 00:0C:42:02:38:B0 enabled
1 R ether1 1500 00:0C:42:02:38:B1 enabled
2 R ether2 1500 00:0C:42:02:38:B2 enabled
3 R ether3 1500 00:0C:42:02:38:B3 enabled
4 R ether4 1500 00:50:8D:D5:EC:61 enabled
(ether4 is the onboard ethernet port)

ip address print:
0 192.168.1.2/24 192.168.1.0 192.168.1.255 ether0
1 192.168.2.1/24 192.168.2.0 192.168.2.255 ether1
2 192.168.3.1/24 192.168.3.0 192.168.3.255 ether2
3 192.138.4.1/24 192.138.4.0 192.138.4.255 ether3

These are the actual IP addresses I have assigned, I'm just testing right now so I've not assigned the "real" addresses yet.

The problem is that I cannot know which port is which interface. By that I mean if I have one cable plugged in, from a 5 port switch, I can ping all the IP address. If I plug in cables to all 4 ports on the RouterBoard and blink a single interface, all of the ports blink.

How can I figure out which port is which, physically?

Thanks,

Rob
