How to Control 1100AHx2 fans

Wed Apr 25, 2012 9:13 pm

Hi,
During few working days, I am tired of annoying router coolers noise .
To change working place to another room - is no possibility :)
I tried to set up fan control to manual and:
if i am setting up primary fan to manual mode, then after pressing apply, imediately starting auxiliary fan.
If i am trying to set up auxiliary fan to manual mode, then after pressing apply stops auxiliary fan and starts main.
Temperatures are -37 for cpu and 30 for ambient
/sys health print
           fan-mode: manual
            use-fan: auxiliary
         active-fan: auxiliary
            voltage: 12.1V
            current: 862mA
          fan-speed: 0RPM
        temperature: 30C
    cpu-temperature: 35C
  power-consumption: 10.4W
Suggestions?

I have 6 RB1200AHx2 that I ordered, 2 from one distributor and 4 from another.

The 1st set I got, the fans are running all the time, ranging from 9k RPM to 12k RPM. The 2nd set of four I purchased the fans run at 3k RPM to 6k RPM.

I've attached a screenshot to illustrate. All four of these units are running the exact same firmware, and all four are mounted in a rack, getting the same cooling.

We've removed the fans from all the units, the fans are all the same, and are rated at 8k RPM. We've connected them to PC that we could control the fan voltage and measure the reported RPM. It appears to us that RouterOS is reporting exactly double the real-world RPM.

I've connected support on the issue numerous times, and they haven't been able to solve the issue we are seeing.

when you cahnge the input voltage of the board fan speed also changes
just found out today...
when running on 12V - internal power speed is about 3500 rpm, at the moment you plug in a pppoe supply with about 23V then fan speed gets upt to 7000 rpm...
bug or feature ?

Only one of them works at a time. You can choose between the main fan and the auxiliary one. If the working on fails, the system automatically uses to the other.
