RB2011-UAS-2HnD-In and temperature sensor

Sat Dec 15, 2012 12:27 pm

Hello!
I have bought rb2011-UAS-2HnD-In,and I want to test it.
The RB2011-UAS-2HnD-IN is my first router from Mikrotik.
It is really good thing!
I am using RouterOS 5.22.

I run torrent client on notebook, that connected from wifi.
Speed was from 8.0 to 9.0 MB/s.
But after 15-20 minutes of downloading wifi is down, then I rebooted router, and about 30-40 minutes next of downloading with the same speed it will be ok.
When temperature is >=60.0C it didn't shown in Health window, and in console(/system health print").
But voltage is shown good.
CPU usage:50-70%;
This is a bug in RouterOS ,or maybe sensor high point.

1)Is this high temperature for router?(>=60)
2)How I can get stable wifi, and good temperature,if I using torrent throw wifi?
3)If I connected my notebook to ethernet port, router cpu usage will be the same(50-70%)?
4)Which way is good bridging wan-wlan or routing?(Now I am using bridge)

Thanks for replays!

Hello!
Thanks for reply!
Ok, will check it later.
But what about 1,3,4 questions.
1)Is high temperature for router about 60 degrees from Celsius?
2)How I can get stable wifi, and good temperature,if I using torrent through wifi?
3)If I connected my notebook to ethernet port, router cpu usage will be the same(50-70%)?
4)Which way is good for router(cpu, and temperature) bridging wan-wlan or routing?(Now I am using bridge)

Why if I use NAT masquerading and reject all traffic at input output and forward, and accept 80,443 ports at forward rule, the internet is working on all lan,but I rejected all input and output ports ?

Hello!
I think we should clarify first about what we are talking here!
The CPU temperature or the Case temperature? (inside of the case)
And last but not least what kind of ambient temperature you have?
Where is the router placed, at the windowsill, over the room heating or where?
I don't know where is the temperature sensor in RB2011-UAS-2HnD,maybe in case or maybe it gets CPU temp.
But the temperature, which I am talking about is values from RouterOS(System->Health).
When I was tested it,router placed in cupboard, also there is no room heating over it.
To be sure first that it is not based at the false end of the connection! (Notebook, Laptop)
If you are massively using the WLAN the inserted or on board soldered card get more hot, this is normal
and is also be seen in any kind of the usage of WLAN.
Ok!
As you previously said that p2p through wifi,is bad idea.
And was is now the problem? If the cpu usage is going high, this should be pointed more to the
long and massively usage of your P2P use and file sharing!!! If you donwload some files over http or ftp
it´ll be for a while also but after the download is finished, the cpu usage is going down, where is now the problem?
If the router is not responding or acting in any kind of commands it´ll be not so good but with 70 % of cpu usage
you will not get a problem.
Ok,yes it is because it a lot of connections.
It is not a problem,my questions about how to optimize(minimize) cpu usage for p2p connection?
For example use hardware switching,not bridging.(for ethX->ethY)

But maybe some firewall useful tricks?Or something like that.
What is the best for cpu bridging(wlanY) and masquerading or routing?
What is this for a question? If we have an ambient temperature of 35 degree Celsius outside, it doesen´t matter
if I am go jogging or playing football, I am sweating!!!!!

An by the way, why you are so hard asking to hold the temperature of the router?
Is there any kind of problem with, or does the router is not working well?
Maybe yes,or maybe not. As I previously said that ,when temperature is higher then 60 degrees, Router Os didn't show any temperature at all.
Is it RouterOS bug,or it is sensor maximum,or it is the temperature to stop using and shutdown the router(critical temperature).

Why if I use NAT masquerading and reject all traffic at input output and forward, and accept 80,443 ports at forward rule, the internet is working on all lan,but I rejected all input and output ports ?
