RB2011UAS-RM / RM2011UAS-2HnD-IN - 3g/LTE modem support

Sun Feb 17, 2013 8:24 pm

Does RB2011UAS-RM / RM2011UAS-2HnD-IN supports USB 3g/LTE modems?
My USB modems HUAWEI E372 and E392 (LTE) does not recognised by router.
Both modems work fine with RB751U-2HnD
I use normal MicroUSB -> USBFemale cable as well as OTG version
In use of normal cable there no activity on modems LED ligths (I suppose there no power)
With OTG cable modem are blinking, but there no PPP_Out profile (as on RB751U)
Any ideas?

Here I create some test and RB2011doues not recognise HUAWEI modems.
I attached 6 pictures and for RB751U abd RB2011UAS-RM with E372, E392u and an old OptiondNV modem tests
As you can see os is 5.23 for both RB...
I do NOT beleive that is OTG cable is problem because modem are recognised as and USB recsource, but neither USB port and ppp_out clinet is not created for HUAWEI modem, but for OptionNV everything is OK.
Unfortunatelly I can not test Option for connection because I do not have DATA SIM card, but Option is installed fully on both RB (751U and RB2011UAS)

Here is Pictures for RB751U

With ROS6rs10 there none of my modems show up in any resources anymore.
I beleive that is bug in firmware or maybe in hardware design at micro usb port.
In ROS5.23 problems is only at routers with microUSB and OTG/HOST combination with high speed modems (HUAWEI is 480Mbs modems)
Only OptionNV (old model with 12Mbs speed) works.

See picture attached - in ROS6rc10 there is none of my modems recognised!

could you try to unplug the usb device, shutdown the routerboard and remove the power. Then plug the usb device back and only then plug the power back to the board. Then check again.

WOW!!!!

I downgrade ruter back to 5.23 and today I make upgrade to 5.24...
In first it did not work as usual, but, then I do what you suggest...
1. Shutdown router (RB2011UAS-RM).
2. Unplug USB Modem from and OTG cable (MicroUSB->USBFemale)
3. Unplug router (RB2011UAS-RM) from power source
4. Plugin router (RB2011UAS-RM) to power back again and wait reboot
5. Login and plugin USB Modem to OTG Cable...

AND IT IS MAGIC - Now router correctly recognise HUAWEI USB modems!!!!!

GUYS I LOVE YOU DESPITE THE FACT THAT YOU BECAME MORE AND MORE LIKE MICROSOFT (COLD RESTART - SOLVE ALL PROBLEMS). :=)

Tomorow I'll try same procedure on ROS5.23 ...

AW, THANK YOU FOR ALL HELP, and I hope I see you in Croatia at March. :)

I can confirm this behaviour also.
RB2011, ROS 6.36, mikrotik firmware 3.33
Usb modem is not recognized until I remove power cord and do COLD reset.
Weird.

I'm also confirming that after a cool boot modem showed up, but not after a reboot.
