RB2011UAS-2HnD-IN and SFP problems

Wed Mar 13, 2013 6:37 am

Hello shiny helpful people.

I have recently purchased a RB2011UAS-2HnD-IN router and for the most part I am very happy with it. However; I cannot seem to get any SFP modules working. Admittedly I have only tried two.

Initially a 3COM 3CSFP93 1000BASE-T module. I could get the link light up but traffic never seemed to flow. Ok I thought, it's not on the known supported list.

Then I bought a Cisco GLC-T module. This one is listed on the supported list. However; I have exactly the same problem. Link light on, but no traffic flows.

Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions?

Does routerOS see the module? If so, maybe you need to flip the patch cord over on one end?

If it's not enabled then enable auto-negotiation for the sfp interface.

I seem to use a similar module, if not the exact same, the 3Com 3CSFP93-4500 and it works out of the box without a hitch.

I have Auto Negotiation enabled, but it does say it is not supported, which makes sense since it only does 1000Base-T.
Also, I upgraded my RouterOS to v6.0rc11 and my Rooterboard firmware to 3.04.

I had given up on getting the sfp working. Recently I updated to 5.26 and voila it started working with the same module that I could never get working (see above). Not sure what changed in the code but I am very happy it works now.
