Mikrotik CCR Internal Power Connector Type

Thu Jun 20, 2013 2:00 pm

I'm trying to add an external PSU to compliment the internal PSU in the CCR (CCR1016-12G) and make it redundant so I need to make an extra wiring loom to the secondary PSU connector.
See image here :- http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=69422

Can anyone advise the name of the connector?
Its a 3 pin latching style +-12.25mm x 16.20mm. I have googled a few of the obvious manufacturers (molex etc) but can't seem to find the specific one.

Can anyone see any obvious issue with a 19V 4.7A (90W capable) DC power supply being the secondary external PSU?
Normis has confirmed 18V-28V is ok. I wanted to have a wide voltage margin to ensure the backup would never be used normally but it was easy to monitor via System > Health if the external PSU was in use.

1V difference is completely enough to ensure that one PSU works and other is not hence 2V difference is suggested as delta between PSUs output voltage.

Anyway, 19V PSU will still be fine. ( it is close to lower voltage bound)

Thanks Janisk!

Please could you check your PCB diagrams and let me know what the connector type is?

Hi Normis.

Thanks for the reply.

Proprietry to Mikrotik? As in its not possible for me to buy at all ?

If not I'll have to make a workaround.

Hi Normis,

Thanks - I'm after buying a connector - so wondered if you had a model code for it?

If its proprietary to Mikrotik fine - but if its available at a supplier it would be good to know what it was.

These are really common in old CRT televisions. No idea what they are called though :(

I've seen these in, for example, Mini-ITX PSUs.
eg: http://www.morex.com.tw/products/imgproduct/62-1.jpg
I don't know where to buy separately, but the image in the picture is exactly what you want.

Ok after more searches. The connector looks to be a generic 3.96mm pitch 3-way housing.

I *think* its a molex 09-50-3031.

Could also be perhaps :-

or
http://uk.farnell.com/molex/09-93-0300/ ... dp/2060677

I think the mobo socket is probably :-
http://www.molex.com/molex/products/dat ... EADERS.xml

Either way just eBay for 3.96mm 3 way - there are lots cheap.

I will report back with the correct part codes in case when I've finished the job in case anyone is doing a similar project :-)

I just found an old one in a parts bin here.
It's got P2422 jmt written on it.
I think that it's this:

I reckon your Farnell part will fit.
