Signal is excelent through 2 concrete walls (-51 on android phone) and also higher than an standard RB951Ui-2HnD with 2-5dbi. With standard tplink 841 signal was very poor and loose conectivity very often.
This is just a testing projects, maybe someone needs this infos.

Solder pigtails, and also a thin piece of steel plate on the antenna side. Also I'm proud to see that wireless sped is 98mbps on an online speedtest.

Hi, can you make a little manual where to solder connectors on the pcb?

Can't do. Ruter is already sold.

Why you can't it's easy to do?

I think this use that part for solder or install for two external antennas left and right. I will try to do it for my RB951Ui-2HnD. Then I post new subject for my test to know how to do that.

that is nice !

i have mine working like this over year without issue .

best result if is distance between two MIMO antennas are about 12.5cm ;)

wavelength is about 12.5cm for 2.4 GHz.

you can remove Integrated antennas (there is no need to be 4 antennas)

especially if you put all in the metal box on the roof. :D

Re: RB951Ui-2HnD with external antennas

Hi guys,
I also did the mod on my recent RB951Ui-2HnD,

Took the pigtails from a dead TP-Link 941nd and soldered them on the unpopulated (ufl?) connector pads, and moved the small (pain the arse) capacitor on the right track at the Y circuit trace.

I'm currently testing it with 2x10 dbi antennas from Qoltec but I don't see very much improvements, not as my other RB951G-2HnD wich is insane in terms of signal strenght and range compared with the default integrated 2.5 dbi ones. I'll try other antennas I have lying at my lab.

Any tips for what wifi settings would help?

Here are some pics (I know, it looks savage, but I don't care about the looks)

Hi.

Yesterday, i did the mod in two rb951ui, using pigtail u.fl to rp-sma. It was necessary to remove both internal antennas to get the real value of signal.
I compared it with another router and signal is the same through three walls and 16 meters from the Access points (d-link dap-2310 and RB951ui-2hnd with ROS 6.37.3).
Has a print screen from my phone that demonstrate how was the signal strength.
The pigtails have a length of 11cm each.

Here is some prints from mod and App Wifi Analyzer: https://imgur.com/a/GMNP2
