CCR1036-12G-4S and Winbox MAC Access

Tue Jan 07, 2014 8:25 pm

Hi to the forum,
I have problems accessing via mac address to the router in subject.
The router is upgraded to the latest version of ROS, it never went into production and has had this problem since its purchase.
The installed version of the initial ROS was 5.8. Now is the 6.7
Any suggestions?
Many thanks.

PS.. i reset it to defaults but nothing

Initial version could not have been v5.8, since CCR only runs on v6.

Did you try connecting from a different ethernet port? Is the LCD showing anything ?

Many thanks for your answer.
I tested all ports, same problem.
I do not want to contradict you but version 5.8 was originally installed with a sticker that recommends the upgrade to 6.0.
I bought the CCR just came out on the market, is serial is 42A102E22302 / 302.
I have experience with Mikrotik device, with more than 2000 devices including RB, Groove, etc.. and this is the first time I encountered this problem.
Any solution?

I have the same problem only with CCR´s.
The other Routerboards connecting fine via MAC-Address.

What kind of OS you are using?
I´m using Windows 7 and I can´t get the CCR MAC-Connection working. It only works via IP-Address.
On other PC´s (XP, Vista, also with Win7) there´s no problem.

Usually there can be a problem with MAC-Winbox if you have something like Virtualbox installed. Just disable the Virtual-Network-Adapter and it starts working.
But this trick doesn´t work for me with CCR.

Hello, did you solved the problem?

We have the same issue here! If we are using winbox on windows 7 we can't access the CCR by MAC Address.

Best regards

I have the same issue here.

Brand new CCR-1036. Winbox sees it but hangs forever when connecting to HW/MAC address. mactelnet cmd connects to same HW address without problems.

This is on Ubuntu 13.10 btw.

As I noted, the exact same issue exists in Winbox under Wine in Linux. No firewall.

Cannot be that as MAC access to other HW platforms is fine with the same client.

Today I unpacked third CCR-1016-12G.

First one died within 10 minutes of working.. returned..
On second one, 5 ports died... returned..

Now I powered on third one. I connected normally from Winbox to MAC address, pressed remove configuration and now I'm
unable to connect any more to MAC. Next I did reset configuration and I can now connect to default IP, but MAC is not working on any port.
MAC Server is defined ok. I can connect to other devices within network, but not CCR.

CCR is a disappointment so far.

Give it an IP using the touchscreen then connect via IP.

Thank you so much for this completely useless tip.

I misread your post as I had the same problem when I got rid of the default config, no longer an IP no MAC access and my fix was as per my response.

Good luck getting help in the future with your attitude...

I apologize for my attitude.

This device made me so much problems, that only help which would really satisfy me, would be to use a hammer on it.
Quality of this device is absolute garbage.

This is still an issue.

Just got new CCR1036-12G-4S and cannot connect via MAC Winbox.

Same issue with my CCR1016

Have tried from multiple laptops.

We have experienced this on:

CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+
CCR1016-12G
CCR1036-12G-4S
CCR1036-8G-2S+

So it seems to be a problem on the Tilera based systems.

PPC and BIPSBE still work properly.

I have just been doing a base config via serial, then connecting via IP with WinBox.

update to latest routerOS. The first thing anyone should do when getting a new hardware is obviously to update it. winbox via MAC works fine for me.

Try using winbox to scan and select the MAC instead of IP. It does work but you may need to give it time to scan.
