CRS125-24G-1S-2HnD-IN for Home office

Mon Mar 24, 2014 3:18 pm

Hello

Im a greenhorn in Miktrotik stuff.;-)

I would like to use the CRS125-24G-1S-2HnD-IN for my Home Office. I need round about 16 Ports for LAN. The other Ports I need for Vlans (Voip....) and Hotspot staff.

I would also like to use NIC bonding. Is this possible?

Im not sure if the CRS125-24G-1S-2HnD-IN can manage the traffic to my Server. Her has only 600Mhz. Is L3 routing in hardware supported or has this go through the "bottleneck" to the CPU?

Can you give us an estimate of your bandwidth needs?
You can have L3 switching done in hardware ensuring wirespeed LAN traffic, and the CCR is fully capable of routing at least 100Mbps external traffic.
But it is basically a L3 manageable 25 port gigabit switch with a RB9x1 class router attached to it.

I would need the CRS not the CCR. I would like to use L3 thinks lile Vlan ... I also would like to create a TestLab with Vlan routing. I would prefer wire speed ;-)

Sorry, I meant CRS in the previous post, the thingie with the 24 port gigabits and the sfp. Just a typo...
It can do wirespeed on the ports, and decent 100+ Mbps (this is what I was able to test) on routing.
I see this as an excellent candidate for the more serious gigabit-wired home and small office.
Just that you need to get acquainted to that switch (I'm still in the process). From my point of view it is really twisted.

Can anyone confirm if this does inter-VLAN routing on the switch chip at wire speed?

It's supposed to do some I believe. But right now there are some bugs with 6.11 that limit the feature set. These are supposed to be getting fixed in 6.12 when it comes out.

This sounds quite bad ;-) So I will just wait for the 6.12 before I will buy one.;-)

Which Type of switch chip is inside the CRS125? Atheros8327 or Atheros8316
