  • MikroTik RB922UAGS-5HPacD
  • MikroTik R11e-2HnD
  • RF elements StationBox InSpot
  • RF elements Antenna Omni-Directional Dual-Band 2.4GHz/2dBi 5GHz/3dBi OARDSBX-DUAL25
Enjoy.

Nice one

We have a whole bunch of those StationBoxes at a client with RB951's inside and they work a treat.

Hello...
Im looking to build a similar solution.
But i would like to know if these antennas work in a 2 story house.
Im planning to install the enclosure on the ceiling of my first floor.
Reading the specs for these antennas from RF Elements seem to indicate that are dipole vertical polarized.
Im no RF expert but that would seem to indicate that the antenna being parallel to the ground would be beaming towards the ground and ceiling not horizontally parallel to the floor, in order words the antennas would have to be installed vertically sticking out the plastic cover.
Maybe these antennas are tuned differently...can someone explain?
Anyone with this setup can offer any data on how well they work and coverage?
Thanks

Sorry for necroposting , but I use the StationBox setup quite a lot with either RB 951's or RB912 and they work very well and cover a decent amount of ground.I also don't understand how RF Elements can specify that the antennas are vertically polarized to be honest as they are running parallel to the floor.

First, you must understand what they mean polarization.
It is the electromagnetic wave polarization that has no connection with how the antenna is placed.

Antenna orientation means that it is compared to earth horizon so it definitely is "connected with how the antenna is placed" .

whats your opinion of an alternative using basebox 2 + R11e-5HacD some similar to this??

http://solimedia.net/mikrotik-wireless- ... -5-24.html

can be cheaper to assemble? taking in count base box comes with power supply, poe injector and a case.

But basebox need different antennas and 2 pigtails.

mind you i have many Mikrotik AP's running and am still trying to figure out that issue.

FYI: RouterBOARD RB/912UAG-2HPnD and Mini-PCI-Express R11e-5HacD doesn't work together in a satisfying way. There are regular kernel failures, hangs and reboots...

It's not true, that RB912 + R11e-5HacD is not working.
We have more than a hundred sets and all of them are working correctly. Uptime are a few months.

interesting to see if some setting you have implemented or some circumstance of your installation has saved you from that issue

some users facing issue with 802.11ac card say that is a power supply issue because pcie card consume too much power an causes crash

how are you powering your rb912+r11e-5hacd?? poe?? which poe injector?? voltage supplied??

how many tx power are setting on integrated radio and additional radio??

thanks for your attention

According to situation, all possible types of power (RB260GSP, Gb PoE injector, power adaptor). All my installations are in buildings. We always using 24V. And perhaps the most important thing, because it's indoors, tx-power parameter is always set to 5-12dB, not more.
