Product recommendation for outdoor 300m Point-to-Point

Mon Nov 09, 2015 12:56 am

Please recommend me hardware for outdoor 300m Point-to-Point connection.
I need connection with speed t least 500/500Mbit.

Important is also low latency because this connection will be used also for media streaming.
Please suggest system wireless device and antenna for this distance and speed.

I think you can't reach this speed using MikroTik hardware. Maybe only using 80MHz bandwidth on super clear channel can get you closer to 500Mbps, but I don't think it's a reliable link, even on short distances.

I suggest you to take a look to Ubiquiti AirFiber24, SAF or Alcoma 17/24GHz.

maybe using 1 link to tx traffic and another link to rx traffic using ac gear and different 80 mhz channels

i also think airfiber24hd is better suited for your needs

What range of speed can I get using Mikrotik hardware ?

Sers,

why not use a 5Ghz "Nstreme Dual" setup? That way you can build a transparent full duplex wireless bridge.

http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:In ... treme_Dual
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Nstreme_dual_Step-by-Step

Grab a pair of RB922UAGS-5HPacT-NM with an additional R11e-5HacD each.
Add your prefered pair of 5GHz dual chain antennas to the APs, choose your channels (1 for rx, 1 for tx, each 80 or 160MHz wide) and you should be good.

Grüße,
Philip

Thank's, this shows that 300/300 Mbit is possible

Yes, but to reach such speeds you need a super clean 5GHz spectrum. Short distance can help but honestly don't expect such great results in real word

totally agree

and take in mind that performance its half duplex and udp

you say you need 500tx and 500rx

whit luck you can get 150tx and 150rx simultaneously asuming you can get 80mhz of clean spectrum only for you

Why I can get only 150/150 Mbps ...on the other hand I see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWhD2z59ORo ~300/300Mbps ;-)

As I understand 5Ghz "Nstreme Dual" can double this transfer ?

Nstreme dual is old technology, 5GHz-AC on MikroTik works good only on 802.11 plain protocol, not on nv2 and nstreme, so you won't get the speed you see in the video.
In the video you're seeing UDP speed test. With TCP it's different.

If you want full duplex I suggest you to create something similar to this:
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/OSPF_to_s ... redundancy

You'll have redundancy and speed.
But is very difficult to find 160MHz (80+80) clean spectrum to get these speeds, and your 5GHz neighbours won't be happy with that :D

Also, to have good stability on AC you need a directional antenna with narrow beamwidth, like the new Dynadish or QRT 5 ac.
You have to lower the power a lot as your link is very short.
SXT has 28 degrees beamwidth, far too wide for a good AC link

I think for your bandwidth needs you should choose something else than 5GHz, even MikroTik with upconverter to 17 or 24GHz can be good if you want a cheap link

Thanks for so much information.
I have to check all this stuff.

I just wondering how fast this connection could be if I will use QRT 5 ac ?
Anyone can share with me information's from real life ?
