New topic and the old problem

Mon Aug 14, 2006 5:19 pm

Hello dear Mikrotik engineers and users

Signal problem steel remain .

As you know last two month I spent my times to make work this four RB532 wireless routers with rb52 wireless cards. Steel not succsess.

I have a two omnidirectional antenna and two directional .

I resetted configuration to default as a Mikrotik recomended .

I changed antenna mode both to b and to a .

I changed wireless interface cards place inside mother .

I know for Omnidirectional antena we have to connect pigtails to aux on the externall wireless card which is located on the back side of motherboard

I know for directional antenna we have to connect pigtails to main on the internall wireless card on the motherboard

I now from configuration mode we have to change to b for externall antenna

I tested routers both for 3 , 10 , 500 meters without any obstacles .

In 3 meters we got -58 - 78 signal strengh.

In 10 meters we got -85 -90 signal strengh.

In 500 meters we could't get signal from Omnidirectional antenna .

In 500 meters we could get signal - 85 -90 signal strengh from directional antenna

I know there is snooper feature where you can check the we channel currently aviable

I almost direct router in everyway

Only I did't change the Operation System of this routers.

We don't have other wireless cards to change and to check.

Now pease tell me what I don't know to make work our wireless routers

Hello Rauf,

I hope you are find, Miktrotik is not for Beginner when you wil begin with Mikrotik you must step by step and read manual becarefully, here we are since 9 months ago with Mikrotik is working fine and we move to wireless since 6 years ago [for expand our network]....i thing important make correct config for AP Routing than Wireless first, for wireless normarly just set SSID, Band, Freq and put IP address for Client's wireless, for AP you can add MAC-ADDRESS's client to 'ACCESS LIST' to make that client connect to [asumse all feeder connector connect to the antenna is good condition], we used [Other product AP] and [Mikrotik-AP= RB511+Omni 15dbi antenna] and [Two Stations= RB511+Flat Direction 19dbi antenna] and [many stations: other produtcs] all work fine our radius stations around from 600m, 1km, 1,5km 2,5km and 4,5km ....last a week we had little problem but now is ok [too much noise].. and next week we make radius to 6,5km to make supply new custome....

or you can send support out file to support@mikrotik.com

note: our non Mikrotik-AP for Backup only

1) Don't change settings, that you don't understand.

- Reset your router configuration ('/system reset'). Make sure you have console connection to the router.
- Use example, how to connect AP to Station,
http://www.mikrotik.com/docs/ros/2.9/in ... nt#4.13.21

2) Tell us your wireless card name CM9, R52 ?
Use 'ant-mode=ant-a', and connect pigtail to 'main connector'.
Description about 'main', 'aux' connectors are given in cards specification,
http://www.mikrotik.com/interfaces.php#linx1

3) Do you have clear line of sight between routers ?

to sergejs

our wireless router cards is RB52.

Yesterday I tested between two directional routers and then between omniderctional and directinal routers.

In 3 meter I fot -66 - 69 signal strengh .

In 30 meter I got the result provided bellow ; http://www.mecdun.s.5.com

In 500 meter I got -96 signal strengh.

Between routers there was no any obstacles.

It is most likely a problem with the cabling or antenna.
Check for both sides of the link:

- waterproofing of connectors
- water in the cable (if they have been exposed to water, they must be replaced)
- are the connectors tight
- do you have the antenna connected to the correct connector on the wireless card
- do you have he correct frequency for the antenna
- is the polarity of the antenna correct
- alignment of antenna

and there are probably a few more things you can look for.
