RB112 as AP

Mon Aug 21, 2006 3:45 pm

Hi,

Anybody testet how many users a RB112 can handle @ 11Mbit (b) ?

I am thinking of replacing a RB532 with an omni with 3 RB112's with 120 deg. Sectors instead of putting 3 cards in the RB532..

Any comments?

/Henrik

have working userer like this .. 4x128 6x256 and 2x512 ...
on one RB112 ... users are PPPoE but RB is not PPPoE SERVER it hat IPoE tunnel to stroooonger machine :)
and it's working ... but nit like when we put PIII in his place :) same miniPCI in PCI adapters ... but lower latency . stronger signal .. do not know ...
RB112 is end user ... CPE :)

I would not suggest using a 112 as anything but a very simple AP. It doesn't have the memory to handle anything complex like PPPoE or Hotspot, and is rather fragile with OSPF running. 16MB RAM doesn't go very far, and if the free memory falls much below 1500k free, you'll start getting lockups or erratic performance.

However, to answer your question, I've seen 18-20Mbit through a RB112 using 5.8ghz.
