Printer Access with "client to client forwarding" disabled

Sat Feb 13, 2016 1:26 am

Hi guys,
i am having a customer which insists of having Client to Client forwarding disabled! But he also wants to share a Printer for all Clients connected to the hotspot.

Is someone having a smart idea to resolve that request?

(I am at 6.34.1 with capsman and hotspot configured, Printers are added to the walled garden and IP binding is active for them. Allowing Client to Client forwarding, everything works fine)

Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Thanks dude. A second SSID is the workaround that I am currently using. But since people often want to print pages from the Internet they are not happy with this very much (disconnecting the Internet wifi, connecting Printer wifi...).

Anyone else?

Use the "access list" feature and allow client to client forwarding for specific hosts and the printers.

This allows the default action of no-forwarding except for the hosts you specify by mac-address in the access-list. TIP: You can identify specific hosts in the registration table and copy them to the access list directly - then modify their client-to-client forwarding.

Hope it helps :-)

Can't you just have the printers have their own SSID (maybe even IP range and VLAN), then route the packets normally to the printer's IP? You wouldn't need to disconnect/reconnect in that case.
