83 Km Link

Fri Sep 15, 2006 12:44 am

We are going to try to put up a 83 km link. Any suggestions on equipment and antennas. We plan on using 2 RB 532 with CM9 cards. We need to achieve about 12 megs. The link is from mountain top to mountain top direct line of sight. Any help would be great!!!

29km Link with 40mbit of Throughput was done by me not too long ago. What is the max EIRP you are allowed to use in your country on 5ghz? That will determin the gear you will use

I believe this is correct for the US: fixed PtP max EIRP = 30 + antenna gain. Correct me if I am wrong.

CM9's and 26dbi Parabolic Grid Should Do it - Ruff Calc's say signal will be around -77 but that will change depending on what power level and data rate the CM9 is set in.

You should be able to get atleast 12mbit out of it, Make sure you have good ground clearence on both sides and you shouldnt have an issue

I believe the EIRP is 25db plus antenna. One side is at 10,000 ft and the other is around 6000 ft. I had planned on using 32.5 db dishes.

The bigger the better but it comes down to cost/benifit and things like wind loading

UNII 3 max EIRP for point to point is 53dB, unless the new rules as of this year have changed it.

So if I use 5.8ghz band with 32.5 db dishes and the power set to 22dbm then it should work no problem?
