Wireless clients keep getting disconnected/reconnected

Thu Jul 21, 2016 11:11 am

Hello!

I have problem with RB2011UiAS-2HnD v6.34.5 (was downgraded from v6.64.6 that has similar problem).

Is it plain hardware fault (wireless module)?

Wireless clients keep getting disconnected, few seconds after getting connection. I have tested with completely open wireless (no auth) and there is same problem, so it is not wrong auth. I have enclosed excerpt from log:

I have noticed that problem might be in authentication mode, i have created/tested several security profiles with WPA2 PSK, different keys but when it is on, clients get disconnected. It is not wrong setup since it is tested several times and sometimes clients get connected for like 5 minutes but when they start to use connection, create traffic, they get disconnected...

There is no ACL setup on wireless interface....

Have you tried to extend group key update interval to 1hour?

It is a parameter of the security profile.

Are you sure that WiFi credentials are correct for all users' devices ?
The best way is to forgot WiFi lan at each device which has problems and recreate connection.

That is also my advice. Remove all security profiles, all SSID's etc....

Recreate the new connection (heck, you can even use the Quickset to do this). Use ONLY WPA2-AES. All "modern" equipment can do WPA2.

What about with aes only, without tkip. I told you that already. And you can disable management protection.

Sorry for delayed answer but, tried factory defaulting device and there were still problems so in the end we bought new device and it solved problems. Although there was issue in that area has lots of neighbouring APs so problems might have gone with transferring more users to 5GHz.

Kind regards

Hi there, I was reading this post because I have a similar problem. May I ask that is the difference on allowed management protection enable and the disable management protect, does? what's the difference. Thank you in advance.

I've started having a similar issue here recently, not sure what has changed. I'm running 6.41rc47 with a 2016 Macbook Pro with Touchbar running macOS 10.12.6.

It's described really well here https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:I ... protection and since disabling it's been fine so far, still early days as I only disabled it about an hour ago but it was happening as often as every 5 minutes before disabling.

In case anybody runs across this thread again..

This can be caused by two or more access points operating with the same frequency, SSID and security profile.

The solution is to change each of the AP's to a different frequency.

I have two AP in my apartment operating with the same SSID and same security profile but with different frequencies and I experience those issues with constant re-associating/associations for some (but not all) clients (usually, iPhones).

Is there any way how it can be fixed, keeping the same SSID?

Thx in advance!

For those of you that have disconnects, reconnects and reassociations especially ion iOS devices, and i think there are a lot of you since this is an old issue, try this:
My device is RB951G-2HnD and various iOS 13, 14 devices. Before bellow setting all of them were reassociating and generated the log entries which we all know by now.

1. Make sure you are not using an older version of ROS (not less than 6.44.6)
2. Increase key echange interval from 5min to 30min or more.
3. DHCP lease of min 2hours.
4. Band: 2GHz-G/N
5. Channel Width: 20MHz
6. Frequency: Avoid Ch 6 (as it is set by default on many routers) use Ch 1 (2412) or Ch 11 (2462)
and most important
7. Disable AMSDU (Wireless -> HT Tab) and only AMSDU. Leave AMPDU Priorities as is, with 0 checked.
To disable AMSDU enter 0 to AMSDU Limit and AMSDU Treshold.
Also, AMSDU does not work well with noisy wifi environments... (crowded apartment buildings)

YES, i know that disabling AMSDU will decrease your throughput but not as much as you might think.
With above settings I have a N Wifi network with a speed of 8...10MB/s throughput and no reassociations/reconnects.

I'm not saying this will work for everyone but maybe it will work for you as well.
It depends on your use case and needs (max throughput or max connection stability)
