hAP ac - work as AP with just one ethernet interface

Wed Aug 24, 2016 6:24 pm

Hi there,

as a new MikroTik user I have a few questions regarding the setup of my two hAP ac devices. The goal is to have one of them act as a CAPsMAN while managing his own WLAN interfaces itself and the other one beeing managed also by the former. Both devices shall work as dual band APs with a regular and a guest WLAN (virtual WLAN) on different VLANs.

A few questions came while trying to set this up:

- How can I get along with just one ethernet interface being connected? Right now I have WAN on ether1 and LAN on ether2 (all other ports are bridged to ether2 as a master). Isn't it possible to get along with just one ethernet interface like other access points that don't connect wired clients to the LAN?

- Why does using the Quick Set "CAP" not work? As soon as I try to use it I get a warning ("Warning: connectivity could be lost ...") and if I say yes I get back to the previous window with "CPE" or sometimes "Ethernet" being selected as a template.

Any help on my setup is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance
