Bad connection only in channel 6.

Tue Nov 29, 2016 2:01 pm

Hi!

I have set up a WLAN network with VOIP using a number of Mikrotik access points (WAP ac) that are controlled by a centralized CAPsMAN (Mikrotik Cloud Core Router). The problem is that whenever I use channel 6 in the 2,4GHz Wlan interface the quality of the VOIP drops significantly. Calls get dropped, bandwidth is lowered, call quality goes down...etc. Any other channel seem to work as intended, only in channel 6 do I encounter this issue. I am using firmware version 6.37.1 if that's relevant.

Is this a known issue? I am looking for ideas as to how I can fix this problem.

Channel 6 is the channel that all the fastest modes on 2.4 use so probably it is very busy.

I have had the same problem. Support says it will be fixed in a future release.

I'm using just about every channel in the 2.4GHz band, admittedly most of my equipment is running 6.36.4, a couple running 6.37.x.

No issues.

Generally you'll find that to be a local noise issue. Something else is probably using the band, wireless KB and mouse, Bluetooth, camera system, microwave oven...

What's new in 6.39rc4 (2016-Dec-30 07:16):

!) ppp - completely rewritten internal fragmentation algorithm (when MRRU is used), optimized for multicore;
*) capsman - added CAP discovery interface list support;
*) ethernet - renamed "rx-lose" to "rx-loss" in ethernet statistics;
*) health - report fan speed for RB800 and RB1100 when 3-pin fan is being used;
*) led - show warning on print when "modem-signal-threshold" is not available;
*) lte - added error handling for remote AT execute;
*) wAP ac - improved 2.4GHz wireless performance;
*) wireless - added "station-roaming" setting (cli only);
*) wireless - show comment on "security-profile" if it is set (cli only);
I'm getting much better stability running the 6.39RC on the wAP AC
