Wireless in 2018

Sun Jan 14, 2018 5:54 pm

Dear Mikrotik

We have to do an Business decision in next Month,
We are growing and we are running in some issues with our Network now, we had to add or exchange some things.
I do not know the result, but Mikrotik will have a hard time In our Company, there is no future for cheapest devices without needed functions.

We don’t need a CPE for 40€
With bad Antenna Design, Missing Spectral Scan, and Driver Issues, our Coustomers are not Mikrotik Beta testers!

we need to know Mikrotiks Roadmap
- will we see Spectral Scan in Wave 2
- Will we see support for more Wave 2 Chipsets to build Sectors with RF-Elements Horns and M11G or another Board with Integrated Wave 2?
-will we see something like nv3 as Improvement for nv2, optimized for 802.11ac / Wave 2
- will we see an working Sync Solution?

- will we see more Communication with WISP and not only the sales bla bla like :
- LHG60 is avaible in q2/q3-17

Well, I suggest you to write an formal email to MikroTik and ask them about it and sign an non disclosure agreement...
Or go to the next Mikrotik User Meeting in Berlin and talk with them.

After 8 years in business with mikoritk we have taken the decision to switch to Cambium Medusa one years ago for faster service and now to switch to Ubiquiti for all the others. I am very very sad to say but waiting for Mikrotik means wasting time, money and market.

Medusa is very expensive but with 20MHz we reach 280Mb/s on the AP and with Ubiquiti same price of Mikrotik we 'll double the perfomance in the home market.

To switch it's an hard choice after +8.000 mikrotik cpe installed :-(

Simple question to Mikrotik.
Why after setting up nv2-sync mode I got 40-50% decrease in throughput AP-client?
How to make nv2-sync mode works or how 2 AP's synced should be placed on the filed?
Why in P2P or P2MP scenario in 90% of cases after changing from nv2 protocol to 8011.2 or nstreme I got 20-50% increasing in throughput speed? Shouldn't be opposite?

I am still waiting for the distributor to make available the WAP LTE KIT, (scheduled for the first week of March / 2018).
We use Ubiquiti AP AC with Mikrotik router because Ubiquiti does not have a decent router/firewall integrated with Wi-Fi AP in a single product.
Using the Ubiquiti firewall + AP is more expensive.
For now we are evaluating the hotspot+radius of ubiquiti but not very stable yet.

I was trying to order one of those as well, but after hearing the unfortunate news I decided to use hAP AC + Huawei E3372.
It is a bit of a gamble as my experience with E3372 under full load on RB951G is not so good, but so far it works OK.
And it has the advantage of dual-band WiFi (with AC) which the WAP LTE KIT does not have.

From what we observe, mikrotik gave away the wireless networks
As everyone can see, it has hardly added anything for years.
Only the housing of devices changes :-)

maybe MT wait for 802.11ax ? with hardware improvment of PTMP with more clients per ap.

the most important topic is the PTMP
MT need to improove nv2, or create nv3.
that he would be able to saturate traffic on the sector with 30-40 clients.

Actually camb.elevate with ubi old CPE working , more more better that ROS AP AND ROS nv2 CPE

Actually those protocols (and AirMax) are useless to us due to incompatibility between vendors.
So first there has to be a vendor-neutral standard or either of the manufacturers should support the other's protocol.

Answer From Mikrotik:

Hello,

We are planning to implement spectral scan for the newer wireless hardware.
There will be numerous wireless products equipped with Wave 2 chipsets in near future.
We have plans for implementing the NV2 wireless protocol performance with many users.
Are you referring to the NV2 synchronization and if so have you observed any performance issues?
Please feel free to contact us we will help you to clear all uncertainties about our products.

Best regards,
Viesturs R.

Good news. So, spectral scan will be only on Wave2 hardware?
We have plans for implementing the NV2 wireless protocol performance with many users.
When? In ROS 6.x or 7.x ? Will it be the current NV2 as we know it or a completely new protocol? NV3?
Are you referring to the NV2 synchronization and if so have you observed any performance issues?

Looks like only Wave2 will get Spectral Scan this is real Bad, all hardware we deployed the last 4 years is for trash!

And no timeline for nothing!
And buying new Wave 2 Hardware at the moment is no good idea, nv2 is only working in beta software, and I thing there are more stones until this Chipsets would probably run good!

With these knowledge we will begin and order Testsets from competitors!
