Plans to extend 60 MHz to use new UK spectrum changes

Mon Jul 16, 2018 5:40 pm

This is really a question for Mikrotik staff.

OfCOM (UK regulator), recently announced forthcoming changes to UK use of 60 GHz spectrum.

Before this, we had a minimum gain requirement (30 dBi), and no use of Point to MultiPoint links.

So - RBLHGG-60ad was legal, but wAP60g was not.

New proposed changes allow multipoint and effectively remove the minimum gain requirement.

More interesting, they make the entire spectrum from 57-71 GHz license exempt, and in effect that means that we could have 6 x 2GHz channels available for use.

So - worth asking if Mikrotik have any plans they can share around release of 60GHz kit with an extended frequency range to allow use of the extra channels?

It goes without saying that having 6 channels would make a huge difference in planning dense networks.
