Nonstandard 60GHz channel, why 66000 and not 66960 MHz?

Mon Oct 22, 2018 10:20 pm

This non-standard channel overlaps with channel 4 (64800) as channels are 2.16 GHz wide. Non-overlapping would be channel 5 at 66960 (and 6 at 69120 if the hardware can ever go that far). Is this 66000 really the highest frequency the hardware can support? Or is it due to some country regulations (perhaps there exists a country where 66000 is legal but 66960 is not)? Some sources (like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_ ... e#Channels ) mention channels 5 and 6 and say "The US is the only region supporting all six channels" - is this true?

How are you seeing this channel? I have the latest release, and I'm in the US, but I don't see how to enable a channel higher than 64800.

Only on beta versions and only via the CLI currently.

Anyone care to share with the less enlightened how exactly you go about enabling it in the CLI, and which beta version of the software you have to use? Is it under interface/wireless/channels/add??

On station make sure that frequency-list (or scan-list depending on used RouterOS version) includes desired frequency:
/interface w60g set wlan60-1 scan-list=58320,60480,62640,64800,66000

on bridge (ap-bridge) device set frequency:
interface w60g set wlan60-1 frequency=66000

w60g does not use ANY parameters from wireless menu.

Still no support for 66960 or 69120 as of 6.44rc4 - any chance to add that, or is it really not supported by the hardware?
