Best hardware for CAPsMAN

Thu Oct 25, 2018 6:30 pm

Hello.
Need HW for CAPsMAN.
400 AP (wAP ac or cAP ac), 3000 Users, 2GBps. No NAT, no FW.
RB1100AHx4 or CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+PC?

i will preffer cAP Ac Vs wAP Ac, because of
cheaper
newer hardware
better cpu
more ram
more tx power in 5ghz (3dbm)
additional ethernet port with poe out

for capsman better to go with local forwarding (at the ap)

i dont know how well capsmanager scales at that size of installation

maybe for that scale of installation a distributed strategy will be better using a modular approach
grouping every 100 AP in a capsmanager on a rb1100ahx4 router acting as layer 3 boundary for that each area

2 SSID - guests and corporate
guests - open, with authorization at another sysetm. no local forwarding. max WLAN speed 10Mbps per client. all client isolatet each other. all traffic flows from AP in capwap tunnel to bridge CAPsMAN and go to another system speed 200Mbps, max users online 3000 (i think about 1500 usually)
corporate - wpa2-psk with local forwarding, traffic flows to separate corporate vlan with internal resources unlimited WLAN speed, max users online 400
i will preffer cAP Ac Vs wAP Ac, because of
cheaper
newer hardware
better cpu
more ram
more tx power in 5ghz (3dbm)
additional ethernet port with poe out
newer HW is not better sometimes...
who have large installation of cAP? how about cAP stability?

want to know for 3000max users in guests bridge and 400 AP RB1100AHx4 enough performance for these tasks?

I have 2x CCR1036 with >130 wAP AC, cAP AC, hAP AC, hAP AC lite, reaching up to 1800 connected clients, 1.3 Gbit/s throughput. I have 60 to 70% of CPU usage on one CCR1036.

So, I suggest you to buy 2x CCR1072. Don't use CHR, it doesn't scale well.
Take cAP AC, although mounting is crucial.
