Best hardware for large 2.4GHz AP

Tue Dec 25, 2018 6:32 pm

Hi everybody,
I'm new to this Forum and new to Networks in general i.e. no real knowledge about networks and stuff.
I leave in an area somewhere in westafrica and among the few lucky guys who can afford a stable internet connection.
After havin some dudes asking for my WiFi key and squatting my front door, I planned to install something that can help young ones in the area and help me share the fees.
QUESTION: what is the best solution to spread my wifi (omni-directional) ? Had a friend talkin about Metal 2SHPN... is there something better ?

Grateful for any concrete answer
Thanks

Questions you need to ponder:
1. How many simultaneous clients?
2. How large a coverage area?
3. Any 2.4Ghz interference in the area?

Start out with with their best unit, the RB4011iGS+5HacQ2HnD-IN. This can be your core router and offer Wifi to those near it. From there, you can dangle Metal 52 ac units around to extend the coverage to other areas.

thanks "pcunite" for the quick response
Answers to Questions:
1. How many simultaneous clients? - let's say about 20 (less than 30 for sure)
2. How large a coverage area? - about 600meters (less than 1km)
3. Any 2.4Ghz interference in the area? - some yes but not that much (depending on what you call interference: home networks [maybe 3] or outdoor antennas [maybe 4] ? )

I have a new born and didn't want to expose her to much "waves" IN the house. Was more on Outdoor solutions.
I checked a bit and had something like HEX-S (RB760iGS) and Metal 2 (2SHPn) in mind. HEX to manage the "clients", and Metal to spread. Could it make it?

What's your budget? For outdoor use, you can try UAP-AC-PRO, about 120 bucks. The UniFi 802.11AC Dual-Radio APs feature the latest in Wi-Fi 802.11AC MIMO technology and supports simultaneous dual-band, 3x3 MIMO technology in the 5 and 2.4 GHz radio bands.

Thanks. I checked out the Unifi. Doesn't seem like the right stuff for a mast, does it?
2. Is it omni-directional (didn't get that info on the site)
3. What is the coverage range ?

Hi. min 1mbps (up to 20 users ), max 15mbps (for max 2 simultaneous clients). Depending on the demand and the hour of the day

Thx for the concern
