Compression worsen a link

Tue Mar 06, 2007 12:42 pm

Hi

Versions of RouterOS 2.9.38, 2.9.39, 2.9.40
Who experience worst results, when run Atheros compression?
On my own expirience when i enable on my test links compression, performance dropped, some links start disconnect suddently, signal become unstable. Does anybody have same experience and results?

I have a rb230ver.2.9.38 at my house that's shooting 3 miles to the main tower AP rb532ver.2.9.40. Lots of trees BTW. It makes a big difference in speed with compression on, I get an extra meg.

Hi, I have the same issue, with a 22km link usig rb532a, atheros SR5, when I upgrade to version 2.9.40 an compression was enabled the link stay up for 50 seconds top and then disconnects for a few seconds and go up again.
If I uncheck compression option the link stay stable and works find and stable.

OK!
Time for a recap!
Here is what I see. The Compression option goes away in winbox. If I disable the interface and re-enable it the option it there again. At that time I can uncheck it and then the link comes back up. I can enable compression again and every thing runs fine for a day and then it's back to not traffic passing.
At first I thought it was just that I was going through so many trees, but thats not the problem, it is the compression setting.

One other thing, I've been running this link on 5 and 10mhz channels.
