Make sure you're configuring / connecting to wlan2 (5 GHz), 2.4 GHz is too noisy for reliable connections.

And upgrade your hAP ac2 to latest stable (6.43.8 at this time) ... wireless might perform better.

I tried all versions of RouterOS (stable version, bug fixes, testing), but it did not solve my problem!
Even when I disconnect the Internet from the router and turn on the router at a distance of 10 cm from the PC, the problem with ping to 192.168.88.1 remains the same!
Maybe hardware problem?
Or its can be a software problem?

What interface is the client? I've seen that too with some intel cards and some driver versions, where it would show spikes in response.

Are you using fixed channels?
Why do you have two (overlapping) DHCP pools?
Why UPnP?

I deleted second pool yestarday.
UPnP because i use some apps with dynamic ports.
Problem persists without UPnP too.

And on my Mikrotik hap ac2 I have 130ms on download and more than 250ms to upload! And this is strange!
P.S. I have bufferbloat even with simple queue.

Did you try to reset to factory default and test? What was the result?
You are connected via 2.4GHz or 5GHz?
Did you try to change channel?

Re: High ping to router HAP AC2

Sun Feb 03, 2019 11:14 pm

I plugged in the Hap ac2 elsewhere with only 2 wifi routers and tried to run the game and I had 300ms ping.
Then I connect to another Microtik and got a good ping 50-60ms!
I really can't figure out what the problem is! And how to fix it. In the beginning I thought it was a hardware problem but then I buy another hap ac2 but the problem persists and now I think it is a software problem(but there is a lot of other people without that problem) or I am so lucky that I got 2 routers with a hardware problem;).
It's really weird when a router from 2010 works better than a new one!
I even wrote to Mikrotik support and waiting for an answer!
Help?
P.S. I have tried a lot of things:
1. Change channels and channel width
2. All firmwares from long-term to testing
3. Another PC
4. Another place for router and another ISP
And a lots of other things!

I think that you could rule out HW failure by trying with plain factory default config, possibly preceeded by netinstall with default settings applied ... don't change a thing (even use default SSID). Start with pinging hAP ac2 itself ... if pings vary wildly, then complain to support@mikrotik.com.
If, however, pingshave nice uniform low RTT time, proceed with pinging your LAN gateway. If pings keeps to be low, then HW is fine and you need to carefully adapt configuration. Test for changes in ping times after every configuration change step and you might find out which configuration makes your hAP ac2 behave strangely.

I don't think that power supply choice (barrel connector vs. PoE in) makes any difference, but just to rule out the possibility that there's some problem with PoE I'd go with really base line setup (including powering).

I did install with netinstall with default conf.

This isn't too surprising, Mikrotik wifi is generally poor compared to the competition. Join me in waiting for RouterOS v7 when hopefully we aren't running on drivers and kernel from 2012.

Perhaps, but I only have problems with hap ac2, I don’t have them on a borrowed microtik, and this is strange.
