Hotspot NAT

Fri Mar 16, 2007 8:05 am

How are most configuring their Hotspots within in their network. Are folks running NAT on their hotspot or just doing NAT at you network edge (basically, are you doing double NAT or single)? Any advantages/disadvantages to either?

I am doing NAT on the edge, as you say, so on the main router connected to the Internet. Advantage of this is that you can log all users activities by their IP numbers, otherwise if you NAT them at hotspot, you have no idea about their activities except if you check both your main router ant their hotspot. I don't see any disadvantage of this method.

I am attempting to Double Nat. I have a main MT and a RouterBoard at a remote location (connected via Motorola Canopy). Right now, I'm having trouble getting a Nat rule to pass a public IP address to and from the Private IP of the Routerboard. Problem is, it ain't working and I don't know why. Anyone able to give me a basic example of a Double Nat setup?
