IPTV over Wi-Fi

Hello guys,

I just bought 2x hAP Lite Classic for home. This is the idea:

1. One of the MT's will be the "main" home router. It connects to the ISP on eth1 and with a Set Top Box and a PS4 on eth2 and eth3.
2. The other one is in the next room, and has another Set Top Box connected to it. This MT should be connected to the first one via WiFi in order to connect to the ISP.
3. The second MT should also act as a WiFi repeater, rebroadcasting the same SSID and everything in order to widen the WiFi range.

So far, I have connected the first MT to the ISP, so the WiFi from it, the WAN connectivity and the first Set Top Box is fine. What is left is to connect the second MT.

Please advise. My WiFi knowledge is on an end-user level, so I don't know how should I accomplish this. I read in Internet for days, but every post and website suggests a different approach.

I will attach an awkward Paint-made topology as well.

Thank you.

Update:

I progressed a little bit further. I was able to get the second hAP to work as a repeater with fairly satisfying roaming, by using the "Setup Repeater" wizard;
I managed also to get IPTV traffic over WiFi from MT1 to MT2 by creating a virtual Wireless interface on MT1 with a separate SSID as 'ap bridge' and creating the same interface at MT2, but with the "station bridge" mode, connecting it to the newly created SSID.

So far so good. The Set Top Box is starting, I can watch TV nicely.... for about 10 seconds. After that, the video and audio get EXTREMELY laggy to the point it's useless. I noticed that during the first seconds, when everything is fine, the Virtual Wireless interface generates about 4 Mbit/s traffic and once it "lags" it gets to 200-300 kbps.

Any time I change the channel, the first 10-ish seconds are fine and then it goes so slow to the point of stopping.

I can provide configuration of both MT's if needed. What could I be doing wrong?

P.S. The first Set Top Box, that is directly connected to MT1 via cable has a constant usage of about 8 MBit/s and everything is fine with it. I guess that if I connect the two MT's with a cable, the problem won't be there, but I want it to be over WiFi.

Thanks in advance :)

I already did that.

MT1:

Eth1 (WAN) + Eth2 (STB) + TransportIPTV (Virtual Wireless) = Bridge with enabled IGMP Snooping

MT2:

TransportIPTV (Virtual Wireless) + Eth2 = Bridge with enabled IGMP Snooping

First thing I would think is suspect that the throughput of your setup is not adequate. What speeds have you measured from the second MT after the repeating.
Much better do use ethernet or a direct wifi link (not repeating) such as use a pair of wireless wire (LOS) to extend wifi over 60ghz for example.
Other options include using adapter sets, ie for coax or powerline(electrical house wiring).

Assuming you are using 2.4ghz not 5ghz?
