LTE with A1 Dataguard

Tue Mar 10, 2020 12:43 am

Hello,

i use an Mikrotik wAP (RBwAPGR-5HacD2HnD) Router.
SIM is from Network Austria A1 and is an private Network inside public network. It is calles Dataguard in Austria.
This works with an user defined "APN" inside mobile network. We have a lot of SIM cards with networks.

Every SIM Card is an private network assigned.
Example

SIM1 net: 192.168.100.0/24
SIM2 net: 192.168.101.0/24
SIM3 net: 192.168.102.0/24
and so on...

When i Access the LTE network, i get an IP-Adress inside "192.168.99.0/24" network on LTE interface.
Automatically Default Route access to LTE

My LAN interface is an Bridge with both ethernet ports inside, and IP of SIM1 192.168.100.1/24 is set on interface Bridge and of course SIM1 inserted.
On an second router with SIM2 inserted is IP 192.168.101.1/24 set on Bridge.

My router 1 (with SIM1) got 192.168.99.2 from LTE
My router 2 (with SIM2) got 192.168.99.3 from LTE
Both dataguard IP's and not changeable from me.

When i try to PING the router 2 with IP 192.168.101.1 from Router with LAN IP 192.168.100.1 it is NOT possible.
(LTE is connected and all seems to be fine), when I "disable - wait - enable" the LTE interface, it reconnects again like same as before
and now the PING works.

So if i reboot the router, no PING is possible. Also no routing seems to be done. If i do my "disable - wait - enable" the LTE interface all works fine. Also routing!
(an PC with IP 192.168.101.2 behind Router 192.168.101.1 and PINGed from Device 192.168.100.2 behind Router 192.168.100.1)

I don't understand what's the difference between "connected after reboot" and "disable - wait - enable" of the interface. Which causes only an "reconnect".

maybe other people can help me
(Firmware ist last stable from mikrotik site 6.46.4 ARM)
regards

I bet you not check this logs in any text compare software.
They are the same, only difference are at front.

PLEASE UPGRADE MODEM FIRMWARE to v15 who is LATEST for your modem.
I not say/write about ROS version or boot-firmware.

Firmware update is available only as FOTA Firmware Over The Air - firmware upgrade can only be done through working mobile connection for:

)R11e-LTE
This means, you must provide SIM card with internet to do a firmware upgrade.

You can do a scheduler at startup who will delay 10s and do re-enable the lte1 interface. But this is a workaround , not fix.

It was an problem with the modem firmware.

Mikrotik analyzed and fixed in Firmware v016. Others with same problem - do an OTA update of firmware and you're lucky.

Yes! you're right. officcially is only 015 available. 016 will be released soon, after some internal tests.
This edition was made only in my case available.
