Audience features

Wed Apr 22, 2020 11:15 am

Hi guys,

I am planning to replace my Aruba Instant-On with Audience. It is a 3band Ap, however, can the 3rd 1733 Mbit/s band be assigned to clients or it is only for mesh between Aps?

Thank you

Hi, yes it can do it both way, just set it to ap bridge mode and it can use as 3rd wifi connection for all clients.

Thank you for your advice, in terms of frequencies for the 3rd band which I slightly higher than standard 5Ghz, would the clients be able to see that network?

Depends on your region, some region do channel 100 while some do 149

Thank you, I was meant to say that the frequencies of the 3rd band are slightly different, not in terms of channels but rather GHz :)

5.18 - 5.3 GHz for clients for by default
5.5 - 5.85 GHz for meshing by default

5.5 - 5.85 GHz is it a standard band or some sort of proprietory for Mikrotik audience only? :)

5.5 - 5.85 GHz is standard wifi channel, it equals to channel 100 to 165.

Hi so on my Audience I wish to use wlan3 for the lower 5Ghz frequencies, but selection field (I use winbox) currently only allows 5500 - 5825 Mhz as options (in 20Mhz width) how do I change this to allow 5180Mhz (Channel 36) and above, and therefore the full 5Ghz range on this wlan3 radio?

I'm not using the mesh features btw.

Thanks

Steve

No, you cannot. Wlan3 is usable only with that frequency range. In a topic somewhere in here, someone stated that even if you could bypass this limitation via software, there's also some-sort of a hardware lock. So, for channel 36, use wlan2.
