dual Omni antennas on separate radios - What are the effects

Thu May 31, 2007 3:26 am

Will there be any improvement in wireless performace comparing to single antenna?
Will there be interferences? If yes, will changing frequency/channel fix this?

Why don't you try the two omnis on the same radio, txa/rxb and let us know. Thinking of doing the same. Dunno results yet.

Actually the AMPlifiers are full band so they amplify essentially everything in the rated spectrum.
For optimal performance of your Amplifier (even the ones built into the cards), you should use channel filters, which also addresses the signal seperation issues.

@Kijomabb

kvan64 are not talking about two radios, but two antennas connected to the same radio. There is two pigtail mmcx connectors on the wireless card, you can use one for receiving and the other one for transmitting.

Separate antennas at both transmitter and receiver promise higher capacity than a single antenna. Using multi-element antenna arrays simultaneously at both transmitter and receiver promise a much higher capacity than conventional systems.

I ask: Why then does the title of the thread read
"dual Omni antennas on separate radios - What are the effects"

Seperate radios WOULD indicate something other than what you have indicated.

It does not make any sense to use two radios with the same frequency in the same router. I can't believe that anyone would ask such question, because it is a completely impossible solution, it will never work out.

I also answered the question regarding the antennas "Using multi-element antenna arrays simultaneously at both transmitter and receiver promise a much higher capacity than conventional systems".

I would use 1 vertical and 1 horizontal omni and vertically seperate them by at least 10 feet. Or I would get 2 180 degree sectors. If you were to run 2 omnis in 802.11b mode you would only have 1 free channel and usely there not all free to start with. Hope this helps

The SR2 has two antenna jacks. just use 2 U.lf pigtails to connect to 2 antennas. I have also heard of spliters.
