About 5/6 times a day, my 60ghz link goes up/down:

one antenna is 60+ ft above the ground, the other radio is 23 ft above street level. It would how to be a *really* tall truck!

More importantly, what ROS version are you using? Try long-term or older stable version like 6.46.6

CPE:

routerboard: yes
board-name: Cube Lite60
model: RBCube-60ad
serial-number: BF620BB6D239
firmware-type: qca9531L
factory-firmware: 6.45.8
current-firmware: 6.45.8
upgrade-firmware: 6.45.9

log shows these messages:
08:45:52 interface,info wlan60-1: link down
08:45:52 interface,info wlan60-1: link up

Is there a way to get more information? Why the link went down?

We see the same issue.

Three links
1 -> Wire Wireless Wire Link (100m) 6.47.4
2 -> Wire Wireless Wire Link (135m) 6.47.2
3 -> Wire Wireless Wire Dish Link (530m) 6.47

Downgraded all of them to 6.46.6 and now it seems a lot more stable.

Should be a firmware issue.

Re: 60ghz link up/down several times a day

I am currently testing the WAP60x3 as AP and WAP60 as CPE and don't have any experience with the cubes yet (sorry, theyre next though). I have however been experiencing the same issue as everyone else (10+ link downs a day) and this link is in my backyard with no obstruction at anytime about 30m apart. With that said I have complete immediate control and access to the link which has helped. I first determined that the frequency of link downs improved when I updated the CPE and AP up to latest firmware packages 6.48.1 as well as the RouterBOARD version tucked away in System->RouterBOARD 6.48.1. These updates lowered the frequency of link down events but did not remove them entirely. I did some digging and found others that suggested to try statically setting beamforming on the CPE. Given that the CPE really doesnt need auto selection beamforming we've opted to set it to what it picks at good signal after boot on auto and then locking it down. Alternatively we also have tried setting it to the middle sector (32) with success. We'll see how it goes, so far we are a few days without any link downs. The theory in the other thread made complete sense to me too. They suspect Mikrotiks implementation of beamforming with the 60GHz line is software driven instead of hardware driven. The theory is there is a script that runs on the stations to continually check if the beamforming is on the right sector and sometimes it "panics". Statically setting the TX sector may be a way around this for now. The WAP60 has 64 elements/sectors on it from what I can tell and it typically wants one of the center sectors which is usually between 32-35 depending on how good your aim is haha.

To statically set the TX sector of the CPE:

/int w60g set tx-sector=32 #set sector selection
number: 0 #choose what wlan60 interface to apply this to(use 0 because its the only one)

Thats it. Best of luck, hope this helps. When we get a cube in will test this theory again or report back if i get more link downs randomly

Thanks
Pierre

Based on your above info I see the cubes beamforming is picking TX sector 29 with optimal rssi and MCS rates. I would recommend trying the below to lock the CPE TX sector:

Firstly you can see what your 0 w60g interface is setup as with:

/int w60g print

#by default tx-sector= is set to auto, which is the problem. auto is broken on the CPE side I am theorizing.

/int w60g set tx-sector=29 #set TX sector to 29
number: 0 #apply this to the w60g interface indexed as 0

I'm just very curious if the fix that worked for me works for others. (1 week+ now with no disconnections, a first for me and I'm confident it's going to keep going)

Thanks
Pierre
