Force users to swap to 5Ghz

Sun Jan 03, 2021 9:30 pm

Hey,

Probably a noob question, but is there a way to force the wireless users near the access point to swap from 2.4GHz to 5GHz?

Thanks in advance

Lower the TX power for 2.4GHz, i.e. set higher antenne gain.

If you don't want clients on 2.4 GHz you could disable the 2.4 GHz radio :).
Lowering tx power is a good way to encourage the client to use the other network, but the AP cannot force the client to do anything.

For CAPSMAN make access list which kicks off form 2.4GHz if signal is too low.
