Why no MediaTek chipsets for wireless? => Wi-Fi 6E

Sat Jan 16, 2021 12:55 am

One of my favourite MikroTik devices is RB750gr3. It uses MediaTek MT7621A chipset. I have never had any issues with them as long as I can remember. The chipset is fast and everything runs stable. The cAP ac with its IPQ40xx chip is another story, though...

Why aren´t MediaTek wireless chipsets used by MikroTik at all? The MediaTek MT7921K - 2x2 802.11ax (WiFi 6E) + BT/BLE Combo Card Wi-Fi 6E looks promising... => http://en.techinfodepot.shoutwiki.com/w ... nce_Design and may be an interesting replacement in a successor for a RB4011 wireless router and could be a fast possibility to support Wi-Fi 6E running on MikroTik devices. Of course with RouterOS V7 and Mediatek's driver.
