Russia regulatory domain + UNII-3 channels

Tue Jan 19, 2021 9:35 am

Hello!
I try to use "russia" regulatory domain for CAPs, but there is no 80MHz UNII-3 channels:
 /interface wireless info country-info "russia"
 ...............
          5755-5815/a,an20,an40,ac20,ac40,ac80,ac160,ac80+80(20dBm)/outdoor
 ................
According to Wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels UNII-3 80MHz is legal in Russia (5735–5815 MHz).
What am i missing here?

What about the latest "russia4"?
Can not select 5745/20-Ceee. "No supported channel"

upd: It's because these frequencies marked as "outdoor" in russia4.
It works if "installation" option not set to "indoor". But it's wrong, it must be indoor use... If I understand regulations http://docs.cntd.ru/document/902048009 correctly...
Also, it's way too high - up to 6425
5650-6425/a,an20,an40,ac20,ac40,ac80,ac160,ac80+80(30dBm)/outdoor

Actually 6425 is right: https://digital.gov.ru/ru/appeals/faq/366/

And for indoors/outdoors there is definitely some misunderstanding, not only for "russia4" region: either on mikrotik's side, or on how mikrotik treats the whole thing, so just use "any".

This is some dirty bureaucratic language, but summary:

5150-5350 MHz and 5650-5850 MHz - ONLY for indoor use, without getting additional permissions (according to № 07-20-03-001 http://docs.cntd.ru/document/902048009)
5150-5350 MHz and 5650-6425 Mhz - allowed for outdoor use, but additional permission required. (according to №10-07-02 https://telekom.org.ru/biblioteka/radio ... 6425-mgts/

IMHO regulatory domain info should be updated...
Also: there is some strange channel frequencies, for example, default 20MHz channels begins from 5660 (5650-5670) with 20MHz intervals. This gives us 5720, 5740, 5760 etc, but wiki says it should be 5720, 5745, 5765 etc. (5MHz shift).
I've encountered some compatibilitiy issues already, clients absolutely do not want to connect to 5740/20-Ce Mhz channel. :(

Yes, I've read the document.
Mikrotik's definitions of indoor/outdoor don't correlate with it (leaving the fact that they are weird by nature) - but overall frequency range is right. Which is the most important part, anyway.

You can choose both standard and non-standard center frequencies.
No surprise that regular devices don't want to work on non-standard ones.

Yes, but why ROS selecting non-standard freq., that is surprising.
