CAPsMAN / Local forwarding - Roaming Apple devices

Tue Feb 02, 2021 2:27 pm

Dear enthusiasts!

For several years now, I have always experienced the same problem in my CAPsMAN configurations.
The stupid Apple devices seem to roam so badly. Especially the slightly older ones. (Also on 5GHz)

To be very honest, I have kept the configuration as simple as possible. For example, no datarates are specified.

I know that roaming is something that is entirely in the hands of the client device itself. But perhaps I haven't found the sweet spot yet.
In general, I don't experience any problems with it. Mainly on Apple devices and bank terminals.

Anyone who has had similar problems and any tips?
I have seen that some people work with access rules to kick devices when the signal strength becomes too weak.
Is this advisable? I always thought this was not a good solution.

Do you have both 2.4G and 5G radios enabled? It could be caused by too high TX Power on the 2.4G radio.
Perhaps you can share your CAPsMAN configuration: /caps-man export hide-sensitive file=anynameyoulike
