CAPS LOOSING CONNECTION TO CAPSMAN SELF HOSTED CAPSMAN

Mon Jun 28, 2021 11:09 am

Good day,

Anyone else having issues with capsman that is dropping wireless connectivity

CAP enabled interface wlan1 discovery interface bridge1 capsman address 127.0.0.1

I don't know why the cap will loose connection when it's self hosted capsman.

I am getting many of these entries when it drops
60:01::xx:xx:xx:xx@CAP disconnected, received deauth: sending station leaving (3)

Signal drops for 1 second then the device re-connects and all will be fine for some time, it may be hours before it does it again, or minutes it's totally random.

Log entry when it disconnects
CAP connect to Office (::ffff:127.0.0.1:5246) failed: timeout

at the time when logged in to the unit when it happens you can see it is re-provisioning the cap, but have no idea why.

I am getting more and more of the cap loosing connection to capsman hosted on the same router. I have no idea why it would "LOOSE" connection

I have noticed high CPU at the time it does this SPI being the service that is causing the hi cpu on a HAPlite using ROS 6.47.10

Does anyone have an idea what could cause the capsman to "loose" connection with itself as the cap is hosted on the capsman device.

Was working for some time, and out of the blue started doing this.

Could you please try to use the latest version on it and see if it happens again?

reset-configuration on your Access Point and re-apply into CAPS MODE.

Also, I'm Unsure why you're using 127.0.0.1 [loopback] IP as an address for CAPsMAN server; this is NOT needed. All you need is a regular IP address in /addresses.

CAPs devices will discover the CAPsMAN Server over L2, DHCP isnt even required on the CAP access points.

Do you have proper CAPsMAN configurations created? Please export and provide your configuration for review...

I upgraded to the latest version, and it was still doing it.

I then found a post about 100% cpu issue, and found that they said to ensure bridge firewall must be switched off, looks like I had the firewall on, however I dont remember enabling firewall option, maybe in error when setting up, and issue only occured when cpu stayed at 100% for a while.

Since disabling firewall on bridge, it seems to have remained connected, what I don't understand is why it would have worked for almost a year and only now start dropping.

But looks like the disabling of firewall has helped, or at least I hope so.

Compare current export configuration to last year export.

Do you do export, right?

I used to have this problem with hosting the caps-man and being controlled by caps-man.

Gave up and exclude the radio on the router running caps-man. Aside from all the other problems with Mikrotik Wireless... This has made systems "stable". Well up until the latest update made my Audience nearly useless.

Since disabling bridge firewall rule, its been stable again...so hopefuly that was the only issue.
