Wireless network and vlans

Mon Jul 19, 2021 6:41 am

I have a V shaped network, router R1 at the bottom apex and routers R2 and R3 off in the distance.

R2 and R3 both connect by ubi wireless links back to R1 on ether 1 through a simple switch. Each link however has its own
subnet shared on ether 1 on R1.

This is unfortunate as it makes it hard to make unique interface settings as there is only one interface on R1.

So to split the one interface into two interfaces, I assign two different VLANs to the same ether 1 on R1.

I would like to set up a VLAN 2 and VLAN 3 on R1 ether 1, to VLAN2 on R2 and VLAN3 on R3.

Thus for example I could adjust the 'costts' of each link for ospf independent of each other.

This is reasonable no?

Do the VLAN's go on the bridge interface or do they stand alone even if a bridge grouping is there?

Do the AP's that for the wireless link have to have the vlan's set up on them also?

Thanks Homer
