Compatibility of mini-PCI interface wireless network card

Wed Jul 21, 2021 6:58 pm

I recently planned to build a long-distance network and purchased the RB493G routerboard. I am currently choosing a network card. Due to tariffs, the official network card is very expensive in our country. I know that the official support mainly supports Atheros manufacturer chips. The official wireless network card I want to buy is the chip Atheros 9220, if I buy a mini-PCI network card made in our country, the chip also is Atheros 9220, can I use it? Is there any difference in performance or other aspects? Can I still use MikroTik's proprietary protocol?
I did not find a support list for other manufacturers’ mini-PCI devices in the official manual, and I look forward to the guidance of community members

AR9220 is same radio chipset as used in MIkrotik R52n-M (https://mikrotik.com/product/R52NM) so should work exactly the same, even if card is not from Mikrotik.
