Better solution would be if the APs could elect a master automatically.
Also, for good performance with clients at different distances, client power control is a must.
Cambium ePMP does it - they automagically adjust Tx power of each client to get about -60 dBm received at the AP.
Good sectors have about -30 dB front-to-back attenuation, this gives -90 dBm at the opposite sector on the same channel - weak enough to not interfere.
A client that is too close (received at -40 dBm on its correct sector) will be received at -70 dBm at the opposite sector and cause interference, it really needs less power.
Cambium still only support two back-to-back sectors on the same channel (ABAB or ABCABC, but not ABABAB), one should be set as "front sector" and the other as "back sector".
Not sure what these settings exactly do, it was called "secret magic sauce" on their forum.
