ADSL

Sun Sep 16, 2007 1:25 am

Hi everybody..
I wanna ask you guys for an advice and for some help ..
is it possible to work with adsl modem which I want to connect to my cyber cafe with 4mbps bandwidth speed
there are 15 PCs at my cyber cafe ... and most of time only 10 are online ...
would the connection be stable and working if I connect adsl modem to a mikrotik ethernet interface which means my source to the world wide would be adsl modem ...
could all computers work fine ... cuz of adsl (assymetric) ... or I'll have problems in upload or what so ever..
thanks in advance

p.s ofcourse I'll share connection from another mikrotik ethernet interface to all PCs through switch :]

Hello.

1st of all, this is the wrong category for this question. A more appropiate place for this would have been the General Networking section, but maybe someone will move it.

Anyway, the short answer is YES, you can do that. I just recommend you use simple queues or other type of queue to limit the bandwidth a client can use. It's relatively easy and the procedure is described in the manual, here:

http://www.mikrotik.com/testdocs/ros/2. ... p#6.54.6.3

If you need something else, then just ask :-)
