AX and AC devices by same AP controller (CAPsMAN)

Fri Jan 05, 2024 8:16 pm

I have a cAP ac with new driver (wifi-qcom-ac) and a hAP ax2, all with 7.13, 750gr3 with 7.13 as CAPsMAN.

I have a question on the provisioning:
1) if I select 'supported band' =5G ax, then cAP ac will not be provisioned.
2) if I select 'supported band' =5G ac, then both cAP ac and hAP ax2 will be provisioned. But does that mean the ax device run only on 802.11ac, so the hAP ax2 speed 'downgrade' to ac level ?

Thank you !

Build different configurations for AC and AX devices. Set AC on the AC and AX on the AX.

Use Mac address to differentiate provisioning.
Much safer.

No, the provisioning setting only defines where a provisioning rule is used. Downgrading only happens if you set band in channel properties.

I tried to set different config for AC and Ax devices. but both ac and ax devices was provisioned by the ac configuration.

So, if I select "supported bands = 5ghz-ac" under the provisioning and leave it blank under "Channel > band", the ax AP will be provisioned and still run on 802.11ax ?

Is there a way to verify which band the AP is currently running ?

Thank you !

Yes, it will still run ax. You can verify it from your client.

Thank you so much for your help !
I did verify it. With supported bands=ac to provisioning an ax device, it did run on channel, eg " 5220 ax/eeCe"
