Poor signal reception with RB 333 and Atheros AR5416

We just installed our RB333 board equipped with a Atheros AR5416 MiniPCI wireless Lan card, we attached a 3-way signal splitter to 3 120degrees sector anthenna(hyperlink 17dbi). On first trial, we installed at an hight of ~80 feet, we got good reception in some areas as far as 8Km away in others even at close proximity there was no reception at all, we attributed this to the topography for some location so we experimented with moving up the sectors (105ft), then things got really bad, we now have a situation where we have locations which had reception now with very weak signal and not coverage in others.

Does any one with installation experience have tips that could help me out?, also which other wireless card would you recommend,

You need to ditch the splitter.

Get yourself three radios, one for each antenna and your signals and performance will dramatically improve.

Use the R52 or R52H available from Mikrotik.

Thanks for the help, what do you think of the sectors? in relationship to the drop in signal quality with hight. We were originally using an omni with a non mikrotik radio which is not too bad but coverage was really limited, now do you think we might get good reception with the RB333+R52 and the Omni

Sectors will help you over an omni. That is a good choice.

Never use a splitter. You probably paid more for the splitter than you would for three separate radios.

I would avoid the Senao radio. Try finding either a R52, R52H, CM9, SR2, XR2
