Nstreme dual not linking

Wed Mar 05, 2008 9:22 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to get an Nstreme dual link running. I can get each pair of radios to associate in ap-bridge/station mode, but they won't connect as part of an Nstreme dual group.

On one end:
/interface wireless print
Flags: X - disabled, R - running
 0    name="wlan1" mtu=1500 mac-address=00:0B:6B:4D:5C:0D arp=enabled
      interface-type=Atheros AR5213 mode=nstreme-dual-slave ssid="ktm10-2"
      frequency=5825 band=5ghz scan-list=default antenna-mode=ant-a
      wds-mode=disabled wds-default-bridge=none wds-ignore-ssid=no
      default-authentication=yes default-forwarding=yes default-ap-tx-limit=0
      default-client-tx-limit=0 hide-ssid=no security-profile=default
      compression=no

 1    name="wlan2" mtu=1500 mac-address=00:0B:6B:37:21:D4 arp=enabled
      interface-type=Atheros AR5213 mode=nstreme-dual-slave ssid="ktm10-1"
      frequency=5300 band=5ghz scan-list=default antenna-mode=ant-a
      wds-mode=disabled wds-default-bridge=none wds-ignore-ssid=no
      default-authentication=yes default-forwarding=yes default-ap-tx-limit=0
      default-client-tx-limit=0 hide-ssid=no security-profile=default
      compression=no

/interface wireless nstreme-dual print
 0  R name="nstreme1" mtu=1500 mac-address=00:0B:6B:37:21:D4 arp=enabled
      disable-running-check=no tx-radio=wlan1 rx-radio=wlan2
      remote-mac=00:0B:6B:4C:BA:7E tx-band=5ghz tx-frequency=5300 rx-band=5ghz

At the other:

      frequency=5805 band=5ghz scan-list=default antenna-mode=ant-a
      wds-mode=disabled wds-default-bridge=none wds-ignore-ssid=no

      default-client-tx-limit=0 hide-ssid=no security-profile=default

 1    name="wlan2" mtu=1500 mac-address=00:0B:6B:4C:BA:7E arp=enabled
      interface-type=Atheros AR5213 mode=nstreme-dual-slave ssid="ktm10-2"

      compression=no

/interface wireless nstreme-dual print
Flags: X - disabled, R - running
 0  R name="nstreme1" mtu=1500 mac-address=00:0B:6B:35:B9:9C arp=enabled
      disable-running-check=no tx-radio=wlan2 rx-radio=wlan1
      remote-mac=00:0B:6B:4D:5C:0D tx-band=5ghz tx-frequency=5825 rx-band=5ghz
      rx-frequency=5300 disable-csma=no rates-b=1Mbps,2Mbps,5.5Mbps,11Mbps
      rates-a/g=6Mbps,9Mbps,12Mbps,18Mbps,24Mbps,36Mbps,48Mbps,54Mbps
      ht-rates=1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 ht-guard-interval=long ht-channel-width=20mhz
      ht-streams=both framer-policy=none framer-limit=2560
I've tried using the mac addresses of both the tx and rx radios in the "remote-address" parameter, to no avail. When I monitor the link from either end, I get:
/interface wireless nstreme-dual monitor 0
  rx-signal-strength: 0dBm
  tx-signal-strength: 0dBm
             rx-rate: "1Mbps"
             tx-rate: "6Mbps"
           connected: no
             packets: 0,0
               bytes: 0,0
              frames: 3,0
         frame-bytes: 120,0
           hw-frames: 290667,0
      hw-frame-bytes: 11626680,0
  tx-retries-timeout: 290664
     tx-retries-lost: 0
         rx-bad-seqs: 0
       rx-duplicates: 0
Any pointers? Where am I going wrong? The antennae for one link are horizontally polarised and those for the other are vertical, and they have a reasonable distance between them. The link distance is just over 30km.

Your remote mac entry in the nstreme dual interface on one side should be the mac of the rx radio on the other end.
