MT connecting to Senao AP with WEP

Sun Mar 16, 2008 2:31 pm

i have a very odd problem , and ive had it since the very beginning.

If i set up a Senao AP with no security i am able to connect with a MT as a station.

However, if i setup a Senao AP with wep 128bit hex key of "22222222222222222222222222"

I am unable to connect with the MT anymore even with security settings.
I create a profile with following settings....

Static keys required.
Key 0 : 104bit wep : "22222222222222222222222222"

And use this profile within the connection.

Why will it not work?

Any advise?

Won't the MT connect to the Senao, or does it connect but not pass DHCP/Traffic?

What you said in the forum should really work, it is rather odd. You didn't by any chance setup the Senao to use WPA instead of WEP? One more thing I can think of, is that if you're using a 802.11b Senao AP (Prism2/2.5 wireless card), you may pickup problems with MT. Prism2/2.5 uses pre-2.9.6 firmware and apparently doesn't support WEP, allthough Senao found a workaround for their AP's.

No the MT does not connect to the Senao at all.

I know it is rather odd, doesnt make sense at all....
And no no configuration mistakes on security side as we have tested this on many differant occasions myself and someone else.
As for the senao's they are 802.11g radios with prism 2.5 chipset.

Why however can the senao connect to the MT using wep but not vise versa.

I'm sure you didn't make a mistake, but are you sure theres not perhaps a MAC filter somewhere locking you out?

Otherwise I really don't know! Thats probably why I moved away from Shinaio completely

Verskoon die Afrikaans!

Make sure the Senao is set to open system and not shared key.

You see in you're case it works because the MT is the AP and the Senao the Bridge.

It is the other way round i had issues with, ALL modes of WEP was tested.

It was an odd bug, but can say haven't had issues since as the tower where this was occuring has since been de-commissioned.
