How to increase my bandwidth

Wed Mar 19, 2008 9:57 pm

I have used the following guide to setup my point to point towers

http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Transpare ... o_Networks

I am noticing 2 things I would like to resolve if possible.

1. The maximum bandwidth I am able to get is between 20-22 mb
2. With the 2 devices I am using I have 3 subnets and 6 addresses. I can ping 5 out ot the 6 from either point but one address I cant ping is the ether1 on the other end. I dont have it connected to anything but with that port being configured I should be able to ping it to see if its alive I would think.

Any assistance with these 2 items would be greatly appreciated.

PS. A side question in setting up the networks for my towers to connect to I do not need to include anything regarding the addresses I used for the bridge correct?

Thanx,

Add ether 1 to the bridge... that´s why you have no ping response.

--assuming your gateway behind A is 10.1.1.1/24--
on all three of them you have to create a bridge

A: bridge 1 must contain:
eth1, ip 10.1.1.2/24
wlan1, ip 10.1.13.2/24, mode station WDS
ip route 0.0.0.0/0 via 10.1.1.1

B: bridge 2:
eth1, ip 10.1.15.2/24
wlan1, ip 10.1.1.3/24, mode bridge (to A)
wlan2, ip 10.1.16.2/24, mode bridge (to C)
ip route 0.0.0.0/0 via 10.1.1.1

C: bridge 3:
eth1, ip 10.1.18.2/24
wlan1, ip 10.1.1.4/24 mode station WDS
ip route 0.0.0.0/0 via 10.1.1.1

note that only the 10.1.1.0/24 class is important in this setting, the other IP addresses used are randomly chosen.
I have this configuration up and working, tell me if you succeed.
Good luck!

My ether1 and wlan1 are both a part of the bridge.

Is there a way that this type of point to point setup will work without configuring a bridge on the RB's?

Also I havent worked with these in the last few days because of other projects but one of our RB's was rebooting when trying to do a bandwidth test and then it just started rebooting continually.

Is there a way to do a remote reset on the board?

Thanks for all the help.

"Is there a way that this type of point to point setup will work without configuring a bridge on the RB's?"
Ap bridge -> Station or
Bridge -> Station WDS.
If you don't create a bridge the link will NOT be transparent so you will need to configure your routes.
