What type of antennas and devices do you use for WISP

Fri Apr 11, 2008 9:07 am

Hello MTians,

We have been discussing about RouterBoards and RouterOS since a long time. However, I am curious to know about the wireless devices (sector antenna, omni antenna, grid antenna, connectors, surge protectors, casing etc) that we all are using for our networks.

Let us see what type of networks each of us have built.

This Topic will even help a newbie to understand the wireless network and can be used as a Case Study.

Normis,
what are your thoughts on this ?

Mine is a startup project.

I have a base station builtup using RB133 (3 ether, 2wlan).

Wlan1 connected to a 2.4 Ghz omni antenna (point to multipoint)

Wlan2 is connected to an Andrews Grid antenna (point to point)

Wlan3 is not being used.

CPEs are either RB133C or CellAmericas Product.

I want to migrate to 5.8 Ghz devices soon as the interference it too strong in my city. This is my thoughts for new network.

RB600 for base station.
120 degree sector antenna * 3 (5.8 Ghz...need to find the product).

CPE would be RB411 attached to 5.8 Gbz antenna.

Any thoughts on this ?
