Sat May 10, 2008 12:53 pm

one of my mast hav one mikrotik 532a connected to a omni..and 20+ plus cleints are connected.
" each client hav got dlink access point and connected to my mikrotik.."
i want to give thier's Ap a fixed ip address i hav to choose frm these:

1: 10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
2:172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
3:192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255

at present i hav given IP to my client's AP in the range of 192.168.178.15 to 192.168.178.xxx..

(A) can i give ip in the range of 10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
(B) does choosing series 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 is better then 10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255 .

Depends on your personal preference. I prefer to use 10. for infrastructure and 172. for DHCP

Yep - personal preference

We use
192 for the wireless
10 for the clients (single CPE's)
and 172 for the DHCP things....

No matter WHAT you use....

Make a IP Plan and STICK to it... If you are going to instal lots of clients keep this plan updated and backed up... because - oh boy - if things go wrong - it'll give you a headache you'll NEVER revcover from....

Put Auto Backup Scripts on your routers and Auto E-Mail Schedulers to keep the entire network baced kup in one place.
