One radio can transmit between 10 to 20 Mbps (depends on many things, but this number should give you an aproach)

So the number of clients is related to the total bandwidth they use. As an ISP, I have many radios with more than 20 clients working fine.

I did have trouble few days ago while activating WPA2 on my RB512 with 2 SR5. Network begun to ping with more than 200ms, and CPU usage raised to more than 50%. I decided to go back to no encryption, and ping got back to 10ms and CPU usage to less than 25%

So, bandwidth is the first thing to take into account.
Encryption the second.
And with old Routerboards, RouterOS is also an issue. See my post regarding RB112 and RouterOS 3.x

Ok. We've got a couple of sektors, one has 15 clients on, what speeds would you expect from such a setup?

It's a RB333 with a R52 radio, 120 degree sektor, client signals between -65 and -80

1 - 10 very fast all the time
10 - 20 still good, may slow down now and again.
20 - 30 need to upgrade soon
30 - 40 some customers start to complain.
40 - 45 (max I've had) most people slow.

Its not about ram/cpu but radio time/collisions.

with nstream and polling i think 70 clients work fine per radio ap, limiting upload on client radio.

Nstreame will not work well for that many clients. (have a search on the forums)

70 if they are people that only use a few meg per month.

Can you give any links? I'm interested in using Nstreme, but I want to understand it first. I did a search, but most of the results have to do with Nstreme-dual.

I can't find them either.

I guess email support and get it from the horses mouth.

Nstreame with ptmp causes higher latency and more disconnects.

Hopefully Mikrotik can fix this one day.

I don't think there is anything to be fixed..... It's by design, the architecture is this way built.
That's why I'm using nstreme for all the links that are with less then 5-7 links. Sorry for that....

OK Improved to include a polling method that works with multiple clients.
