Help needed on Wireless Setup.

Sat Aug 23, 2008 2:26 pm

Hello,

Being a newbie to MT I am in need of some advise. I have downloaded the Manual for ROUTEROS and read it though and still stuck, I have googled what I need and searched the WIKI for assistance (i can hardly find anything on that search box). However with no luck or any further understanding. I guess my questions might be very basic and even silly but can someone help me. Seems like everything covered is WAY ADVANCED and no simple setup instructions. :(

This is what information in can give now, if there is anything which i have missed please let me know.

We have currently:

1x RB433 on Office - Backhaul 1
1x RB433 on Mountain 1 - 1x Radio AP Bridge - 1x Radio Backhaul 1 - 1x Radio Backhaul 2
1x RB600 on Mountain 2 - 1x Radio Backhaul connection 2 1x Radio AP-Bridge

I want to create a

1x P2P link from our office to Mountain 1
1x P2P Link from Mountain 1 to Mountain 2
1x AP Bridge on Mountain 2

Then all to be able to talk with our internet connection at 192.168.0.1
Any help or any links that explain how to do it would be as helpful as I am really stuck.

Is it Bridge`s Bonding.... i feel my head is going to explode with loads of terms!!!

Thanks in advance.

This was the config i was thinking of when i was reading the WDS setup for joining 2 networks? Will it work for my plan?

1. Configure CehegnAP Wireless WLANS (Town1)

[admin@AP] interface wireless set wlan2 ssid=OfficeBH frequency=5660 mode=bridge wds-mode=dynamic disabled=no
[admin@AP] Interface wireless set wlan3 ssid=CalasparraBH frequency=5620 mode=bridge wds-mode=dynamic disabled=no
[admin@AP] interface wireless set wlan1 ssid=CeheginAP frequency=5700 mode=ap-bridge

2. Configure OfficeBH

[admin@OfficeBH]> Interface wireless set wlan1 ssid=OfficeBH frequency=5660 mode=bridge wds-mode=dynamic disabled=no

3. Configure CalasparraBH (Town2)

[admin@CalasparraBH]> Interface wireless set wlan3 ssid=CalasparraBH frequency=5620 mode=bridge wds-mode=dynamic disabled=no
[admin@CalasparraBH]> Interface wireless set wlan1 ssid=CalasparraAP frequency=5640 mode=ap-bridge

4. Setup CeheginAP-WDS Bridge

[admin@AP]> Interface bridge add name=wds-bridge
[admin@AP]> Interface bridge port set wlan1,wlan2,wlan3,ether1 bridge=wds-bridge
[admin@AP]> Interface wireless set wlan1,wlan2,wlan3,ether1 wds-default-bridge=wds-bridge

5. Setup OfficeBH-WDS Bridge:

[admin@OfficeBH] interface bridge add name=wds-bridge
[admin@OfficeBH] interface bridge port set wlan1,wlan2,wlan3,ether1 bridge=wds-bridge
[admin@OfficeBH]> Interface wireless set wlan1,wlan2,wlan3,ethernet wds-default-bridge=wds-bridge

6. Setup Calasparra-WDS Bridge:

[admin@CalasparraBH] interface bridge add name=wds-bridge
[admin@CalasparraBH] interface bridge port set wlan1,wlan2,wlan3,ether1 bridge=wds-bridge
[admin@CalasparraBH]> Interface wireless set wlan1,wlan2,wlan3,ethernet wds-default-bridge=wds-bridge

7. Add IP address on AP:
[admin@AP]> Ip address add address=192.168.0.100/24 interface=wds-bridge
Add IP address on OfficeBH::
[admin@OfficeBH]> Ip address add address=192.168.0.101/24 interface=wds-bridge
Add IP address on CalasparraBH:
[admin@CalasparraBH]> Ip address add address=192.168.0.102/24 interface=wds-bridge

does this look ok?
